New Stylized Modular Pier Pack Released – Game-Ready Asset for Unity & Blender!

From Sketch to Stylized Reality: The Making of the Modular Pier Asset Pack
Creating the Stylized Modular Pier wasn’t just about building a game-ready asset pack — it was about capturing a feeling: the eerie calm of a foggy dock, the creak of old wood beneath your feet, and the quiet sense that something isn’t quite right.
🌊 Where It All Started
It all began with a single mental image — a long-forgotten wooden pier stretching into the mist. Moss-covered planks, broken edges, dark water. I was inspired by the atmosphere of Little Nightmares, mixed with a touch of Lovecraftian unease. I didn’t want photorealism — I wanted style, something that looked handmade, like a miniature set from a stop-motion film.
🧱 Defining the Visual Language
I spent days refining the shape language: exaggerated silhouettes, bent geometry, asymmetry. I modeled everything by hand in Blender — no prefab assets. Each plank and beam was carefully crafted to feel imperfect, as if it belonged to a world just slightly askew from reality.
I ended up creating 6 unique plank types: straight, curved, with moss, with a round hole, with an organic tear, and even a warped one. The rest of the modules — supports, beams, stairs, platforms — were built with the same philosophy: modular, but artistically uneven.
🛠 Technical Challenges
One of the hardest parts was optimization. The high-poly models had millions of tris, and I had to strike a balance between preserving detail and keeping it performance-friendly. Baking normal and AO maps in Substance Painter helped a lot.
Instead of using a single atlas, I split the textures into three separate atlases — one for the bridge, one for the stairs, and one for the platform. This gave me more control, allowed for better detail, and simplified UV management. Each atlas includes 2K AlbedoTransparency, Normal, and MetallicSmoothness maps.
🌀 What I Learned
-
Perfection kills style. Let things be a little crooked.
-
Consistency > realism.
-
Splitting into logical texture groups saves time long-term.
-
Being tired doesn’t mean you’re done — it means you’re halfway there. Keep going.
🧰 What’s Inside
-
31 modular objects:
-
16 bridge pieces
-
9 stair modules
-
6 platform elements
-
-
Clean .FBX and .OBJ exports
-
Master .blend file
-
Three 2K texture sets (one per group): AlbedoTransparency, Normal, MetallicSmoothness

-
Fully compatible with Unity and Unreal
This was my first full pipeline asset pack released to the public — and I gave it everything I had. If you’re creating a mysterious dock, a foggy village, or just want some expressive stylized wood for your project, I hope this pack helps bring your vision to life.
Thanks for reading — and stay weird ✌️
